Aviation Security Regime
Passenger Security
Originally, as a result of great security concerns in August 2006, aviation security was stepped up to a new level. Drinks, liquids, gels and any other substances that may be deemed as 'liquids', and which are in the possession of passengers before they go through their security checks, are only permitted in very small quantities.
Other serious security situations have occurred since then. The airline industry, including BAR UK, understands the rationale for the restrictions that have been applied, but encourages the authorities to explore and develop new security regimes that will be more effective in detection, and less onerous for passengers in implementation.
This philosophy is bearing fruit. Scanners with much greater capabilities have been introduced at major airports, and associated security regimes implemented.
BAR UK looks forward to working with government and its agencies to ensure proper but proportionate security regimes for passengers, baggage and cargo.
