Membership - Introduction
Airlines
Membership is open to any scheduled airline, British and non-British, that undertakes business within the UK, or is represented in the UK.
Applications are required to be approved by the board, on receipt of the completed application form and subscription and joining fees.
‘Online members’ are scheduled airlines who operate flights to, or within, the UK.
‘Offline members’ are those who do not operate flights into the UK, but have a business operating here, and often work in association with online members.
Members of both categories enjoy the same voting rights and benefits.
Note: Any airline which is not a member of BAR UK in its own right, and has its own Air Operator’s Certificate, but who operates exclusively into the UK on behalf of a BAR UK member airline, is known as an Affiliate.
Exclusions:
Any airline that appears on the list of banned carriers within EU airspace will not be considered for membership of BAR UK.
Non-Airline Members
A non-airline organisation whose business has close aviation links may apply to become an Associate Member of BAR UK.
The number of Associates is closely controlled to keep a proper balance of membership. Applications are not automatically successful and are at the board’s sole discretion. Associates are not entitled to voting rights.
Membership Fees Structure
Online Members
Online members benefit directly from the work of BAR UK, as their businesses are affected by the laws and requirements of government, its agencies and regulators, airport operators and other similar organisations, so their annual fee is payable at the standard rate.
Offline members
Offline members do not benefit as much so they are entitled to a 50% reduction of the standard rate.
Affiliate airlines
They are covered by the subscription of the BAR UK member to whom they are contracted.
Associate members
Their subscription is 50% of the standard rate.
