Yavuz Sökmen of Turkish Airlines takes over leadership of BAR UK

Yavuz Sökmen, Director UK & Ireland for Turkish Airlines, has succeeded Mark Schwab as Chairman of the trade association for scheduled airlines, BAR UK.

Yavuz, who is married with three children, became Vice-Chairman of the trade association in June this year. He joined Turkish Airlines in 1975 and has, since then, held the posts of Corporate Planning Director and Marketing Director at Turkish Airline's Head Office and has also been Country Manager in both France and Switzerland. He took up his current post in London in July 1996.

BAR UK now has 92 scheduled airlines in membership, with the recruitment of TAROM Romanian Air Transport in July.
