United Airlines takes over leadership of BAR UK

Mark Schwab, United Airlines' General Manager for the UK, has succeeded Monika Warburton of Austrian Airlines as Chairman of the trade association for scheduled airlines, BAR UK.

The handover took place at BAR UK's first general meeting for the year, held at the Institute of Directors. Praising his predecessor for her work over the last two years, Mark said: "Her dedication, energy and thoughtful leadership has been greatly appreciated". He then presented Mrs Warburton with a plaque to mark her term of office.

The members also heard from Glenda Jackson MP, the Transport Minister, who spoke about Britain's role in the presidency of the EU, the Government's aims to advance the interests of aviation safety in Europe and the White Paper on an Integrated Transport Policy due to be published in the Spring.

BAR UK now has 93 scheduled airlines in membership with the recruitment of Mexicana to the association in January.
