Board moves at BAR UK

Career changes for two of its members have caused three changes to the Board of BAR UK.

  • Dr. Barry Humphreys (Virgin Atlantic) has been appointed by the Board as Deputy Chairman, succeeding Dr. Paul Ellis (British Airways).
  • Mr Tom King (British Airways) has been elected to replace Dr. Paul Ellis as a Board Director.
  • The third change is the election of Stephen Thompson (Qantas) to the Board, replacing Simon Bean of Air New Zealand, who has just left his post with the airline.

Dr Ellis, who has assumed greater responsibilities within British Airways, and is now no longer in a position to provide the commitment, had been on the Board since November 1999. He remains the alternate delegate for British Airways.

The Chairman of the BAR UK, Robert Atkinson (Air Canada) said 'On behalf of the Board, and all of our members, I thank Paul and Simon for their service and input to BAR UK over a number of years. Our best wishes go to them both in their new endeavours, and we look forward to still seeing Paul from time to time as the alternate for his airline.

'It's a pleasure to welcome Stephen and Tom, and the Board looks forward to their contribution in the ever-challenging times ahead.'
