BAR UK logo

BAR UK (the Board of Airline Representatives in the UK) is the industry association for scheduled airlines undertaking business in the UK. Legally incorporated as a UK Limited Company in 1988, it can trace its origin back to the early 1960s.

The organisation is run on a day to day basis by a full-time Chief Executive, Mike Carrivick, who reports to a Board of Directors.

BAR UK Objectives

  1. To encourage and promote, in the UK and elsewhere, the interests of scheduled airlines engaged in the carriage of passengers and cargo to, from and within the UK.
  2. To represent the interests of the member airlines so that the best possible conditions for successful, scheduled, commercial aviation in the UK are created.
Our objectives are achieved by representing our members in dealings with many industry participants, including:

Politicians
Government Departments
Regulators
Airport Operators

As you would expect of an industry association, most of our work is done behind the scenes, keeping our members up to date with industrial and governmental developments that may affect their ability to conduct business.

However, BAR UK does NOT engage itself in:

Whilst the major British based scheduled airlines all belong to BAR UK, the majority of the members are foreign airlines, so the views emanating from the industry association reflect the international nature of the scheduled airline business. Membership and industry enquiries are all welcomed. Please refer either to the rates for airlines and application form, or rates for associates and application form, or contact:
