WELCOME
The Board of Airline Representatives in the UK (BAR UK) is the industry association that promotes the business interests of scheduled airlines with a UK operation or representation. Membership of almost 90 airlines.
BAR UK represents the interests of its member airlines on any industry issues that collectively affect them.
Our roles include engaging with senior government ministers, their Departments, the CAA and airport operators, such as BAA and Manchester Airports Group.
Liaison is also maintained with other industry associations such as the International Air Transport Association (IATA), British Air Transport Association (BATA) and the Airport Operators’ Association (AOA).
There is a Board of 13 (maximum) and a Secretariat of a full-time Chief Executive and a part-time Executive Assistant.
Our objectives are achieved by representing our members in dealings with many industry participants, including:
- Politicians
- Government Departments
- Regulators
- Airport Operators
As you would expect of an industry association, most of our work is done behind the scenes, keeping our members up to date with industrial and governmental developments that may affect their ability to conduct business.
BAR UK does NOT engage itself in the following:
- Matters concerning pricing policies and agency remunerations
- Matters of any other commercial policies between its members and their distribution channels
- Matters of commercial competition and debate between BAR UK members
Whilst the major British based scheduled airlines all belong to BAR UK, the majority of the members are foreign airlines, so the views emanating from the industry association reflect the international nature of the scheduled airline business. ![]()
